The following illustrations were created for the fictional literature "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs

These pages cover two pivotal moments in the story. Page 1 depicts the sinister tone shift when the evil magic of The Monkey's Paw is first established. "His tones were so grave that a hush fell upon the group." The yellowy tones invoke an antiqueness from the environment, but also a reference to a film adaptation of the book. Each character prior to this moment showed no unease, but the magical artifact exacted the full sting of its curse upon the whole family as the story progresses. Page 2 displays "Mrs. White" the mother figure in the story absolutely losing her mind from the result of the paw's magic, and her husband begging her not to open to door to reveal something truly horrible.
